ABOUT MOUNT MERU
Mount Meru is located in Arusha National Park, so the hike on the first day with accompanied by a ranger, you will have a chance to view baboons, buffaloes, giraffes and other wildlife. You will ascent through various Mount Meru vegetation zones, from the grassland into the rainforest, moorland into the alpine desert. Mount Meru is the one standing beneath the Mount Kilimanjaro. Mount Meru day hike is one of the Tanzania Mountain hiking involving one day Mount Meru hiking. Day hike on the slopes of Mount Meru is very best adventure to those who are not intending to hike Mount Meru for many days, just little bit experiencing the Mount Meru day hike Tanzania. You will transit through the Arusha National Park getting a chance to view wildlife (game viewing) before taking on the hike to 2500m, also you visit a waterfall later on transit through the park and back to Arusha/Moshi.
MOUNT MERU ITINERARY
After your breakfast in the morning, your will be picked up from your hotel, either Arusha/Moshi. Drive to the Arusha National Park main entrance gate which is 45minutes drive from Arusha town and 90minutes drive from Moshi. The hike starts at approximate 0930 am after registration and get permit at Momella Gate then taking our Ranger before driving to the very end of the road to Kitoto View Point. You will follow the trails and observe animals and nature while be listening to some stories about Meru Mountain from your guide and be crossing some beautiful vast plains to the roots of the mountain. From here we hike through the Afromontane Forest and into the crater. After about 3 hours walk, you will stop for lunch in a relaxing environment before continuing for another short walk before reaching your final destination. After taking a few moments of relaxation at the crater of mountain, you will start heading back to the gate ready to depart backage sites. In the evening hikers walk back to Morum Barrier gate, where the vehicle will be waiting to transfer back to your accommodation in Moshi/Arusha.
